Hey wonderful people,

I've finally settled in Melbourne, pursuing a degree in fashion. Sewing is so fun! When I learnt how to sew my first skirt, you can imagine my joy. After hours and hours of hard work put in, it was crazy but I still love it!

Will post some of my works I did in school soon :)

In the meantime, have a great day!

Chinois-Chic

2 min read
Inspired by period dramas based in China, oriental elements are included in my current collection: Chinois-Chic.

I was inspired to do this collection "Chinois-Chic" because I watch a tad too much Chinese dramas and whilst watching a  period drama based in China, I was immediately attracted to the beauty of Oriental elements and nature as shown in the film. Its a beautiful sight to see springs and mountains accompanied with birds and flowers. They actually bring out the peace and perfection of what Mother Nature left us before Earth started to change drastically. So much so that these elements of perfection and peace are slowly disappearing from the surface of our planet.

Initially, these elements were supposed to be my main source of inspiration for this collection but I decided to tone down the elements and include: mandarin collars / mandarin buttons / jade / lanterns, etc first, and combine these elements with a little of modern chic.

The aim is to bring out oriental + chic.
Simple yet eye catching.

I will focus on the elements of peace and perfection (in my opinion) in the next collection : Chinois - Chic II; in the mean time, I'll spend my time squeezing creative juices out from my little head and perhaps appreciate tea and nature more!

*button up! mandaring collars, button them up!

Retrospect

2 min read
Retrospect is a collection inspired by post-war period and pin-ups.

I have always been a fan of history and European war has always been my favourite topic. It is known that during the war, many people suffered, especially women and children.
After the war, the lifestyle of people changed and adapting to a new life (ruined for many) was difficult initially. They then got used to the changes and at the same time, the world was starting to develop drastically, with influences from the U.S. New buildings were constructed, new jobs, in fact, a new life for many. So much so that fashion at that period was influenced and hence, post-war period was the time when new styles were introduced.
Being such a huge fan of history and after reading a book based on the European war, I was inspired to do a collection based on post-war.

As we know, pin-ups were also around during the war - post-war period. Models, famous women and sex symbol were featured on posters and advertisments, always seen clad in very little clothing. I was intrigued by how painters at that time managed to capture such pretty and bold figures and being able to translate them into beautiful forms of art. Though some people may look at pin-ups in a negative way, but in my opinion, it actually shows how beautiful women are and that we are in actual fact, a beautiful creation from God.

Hence, I would like to combine two of my favourites: history (post-war in this collection) and pin-ups, two of which are retrospects.
