Retrospect is a collection inspired by post-war period and pin-ups.
I have always been a fan of history and European war has always been my favourite topic. It is known that during the war, many people suffered, especially women and children.
After the war, the lifestyle of people changed and adapting to a new life (ruined for many) was difficult initially. They then got used to the changes and at the same time, the world was starting to develop drastically, with influences from the U.S. New buildings were constructed, new jobs, in fact, a new life for many. So much so that fashion at that period was influenced and hence, post-war period was the time when new styles were introduced.
Being such a huge fan of history and after reading a book based on the European war, I was inspired to do a collection based on post-war.
As we know, pin-ups were also around during the war - post-war period. Models, famous women and sex symbol were featured on posters and advertisments, always seen clad in very little clothing. I was intrigued by how painters at that time managed to capture such pretty and bold figures and being able to translate them into beautiful forms of art. Though some people may look at pin-ups in a negative way, but in my opinion, it actually shows how beautiful women are and that we are in actual fact, a beautiful creation from God.
Hence, I would like to combine two of my favourites: history (post-war in this collection) and pin-ups, two of which are retrospects.
